Guardamar & the surrounding areas

Map of Guardamar

This very pretty, typical Spanish coastal town has a mixture of attractive modern properties close to the beach, with the more traditional homes scattered around the main thoroughfare with all the shops, bars and restaurants that one expects in a seaside resort Between the town and the beach is the large `Queen Sofia' park, thick with trees and plants, where visitors can enjoy cool, refreshing strolls even on the warmest of days. The area is renowned for the 11 kilometers of sandy beaches backed by great dunes. A modern yacht marina lies to the north end of the beach.

For defensive purposes the ancient town was built on a hill, skirted by the river Segura. Still preserved are the ruins of a castle and other historic remains from when this town was a port.

A property of Guardamar

Close to Alicante airport - 28 kms - and the coastal townships of Santa Pola, Gran Alicante and Torrevieja, in addition to the inland towns of Crevillente and Orihuela, Guardamar del Segura and its environs are becoming very popular for both persons seeking a permanent home and also those looking for a holiday hideaway.

For those clients who have the dream of purchasing an old rural Spanish finca, with its own parcel of land in a nice quiet inland position close to a typical Spanish village we would ask you to be aware of the following. Any finca for sale at around 120,000 € - about £85,000 - will definitely require upgrading and modernization. Between 150,000 € and 250,000 € they will be livable properties with water and electricity connected but may still need modernization or improvements according to personal needs. Above 250,000 €, you may expect a `move in' situation, with possibly just some decorating to satisfy ones own taste.
