Mojacar & the surrounding areas

Tucked away in the south west corner of Spain lies a secret that not many people have discovered. Nestling in the hills in front of the sparkling Mediterranean and protected from the cold winter winds by the Siera Cabrerra mountain range, there is an area that time has passed by, where the quality of life has to be experienced to be appreciated.

The jewel of the crown is the picturesque old village, dating back to Moorish times, with its narrow cobbled street and cosmopolitan mix of bars and restaurants. The view in all directions from the village is magnificent.

The area between the beach and the old town has been carefully developed and enjoys the availability of a new golf course, tennis courts and water sports. There is nearby fishing harbour and marina at Garoucha. A new marina is shortly to be developed at the southern end of Mojacar together with an attractive development of apartments and hotel. Inland there are the two towns of Turre and Vera, which offer fine country-style restaurants.

The beaches are of fine golden sand. Sunbathers and swimmers are able to enjoy the international set of their fellow sun worshippers and in particular enjoy excellent food and drink at the many, friendly and varied `Beach Bars' The whole atmosphere of the beach area is reminiscent of St. Tropez, France.

Mojacar is less than an hours drive from the regional capital of Almeria where there is an international airport offering frequent charter services to and from Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham.
